What to Expect + FAQ

What to Expect in a Session

Sessions with Liz are spacious, collaborative, and deeply attuned to your unique pace and needs. Whether you’re working through a recent event or unpacking long-held patterns, Liz brings a grounded, compassionate presence to help guide your process.

Using the principles of Somatic Experiencing, sessions focus on gently supporting your nervous system’s natural capacity to heal and regulate. This work does not require retelling your entire trauma history—instead, Liz helps you tune in to subtle physical sensations, emotions, and patterns of activation and settling. Together, you'll build greater awareness and trust in your body’s cues, allowing for organic integration and lasting change.

You can expect:

  • A slow, safe pace that respects your capacity and boundaries

  • Body-based tools to support nervous system regulation

  • Support in reconnecting with your intuition and sense of self

  • Space to process trauma without overwhelm or retraumatization

  • Gentle integration of insights and shifts between sessions

Liz offers a steady, empathetic presence as you move toward greater clarity, resilience, and self-trust. Over time, many clients find themselves feeling more grounded, more connected to their bodies, and better able to navigate life with confidence and inner ease.

FAQS

  • Somatic Experiencing is a body-based approach to healing trauma and chronic stress. It works with the nervous system to gently release stored survival energy and bring the body back into a regulated state. Unlike traditional talk therapy, SE focuses on physical sensations, body awareness, and gradual integration—rather than retelling the full trauma story.

  • Sessions are slow-paced, supportive, and guided by your unique needs. You’ll be invited to notice physical sensations, emotions, or patterns that arise in the body. There’s no pressure to share anything you're not ready to. Liz will help you stay grounded and present, supporting gentle shifts toward more regulation, clarity, and self-trust.

  • Not at all. SE is different from traditional therapy in that it doesn’t rely on rehashing past events. Healing happens through what the body is holding—not necessarily through the story itself. You’re welcome to share what feels helpful, but it’s never required.

  • SE can benefit anyone feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, or stuck—especially those recovering from complex trauma, medical trauma, burnout, or life transitions. Liz has particular experience working with healthcare professionals, single parents, and those navigating cultural or faith shifts.

  • Sessions are approximately 50 minutes long and are offered virtually. Packages of four sessions are encouraged for deeper integration.

  • Yes. SE is often a wonderful complement to other modalities, including talk therapy, EMDR, or coaching.

  • At this time, sessions are private pay and not covered by insurance. However, some clients use HSA or FSA accounts for reimbursement. Please check with your plan provider.

  • Cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged for the session. This helps respect both our time and the integrity of the work.
